Frequently Asked Questions -
What will we need to complete enrollment? - birth certificate, immunizations, credit card, and 3 proofs of residency (license, rental agreement, phone bill, water bill, etc.)
Do we have to enter a credit card at the end of the application? - Yes. Families must enter a credit card to apply. Your card will not be charged until you are accepted into the program. This is a one-time fee.
When will my student be accepted? - A student will be accepted upon submission of all required documents and confirmation of availability in the selected program.
How do we know when we have been accepted? - Families will receive an email from Playground letting you know your student has been accepted.

Half Day Programs
AM 8:00-10:30 (Wed. dismiss at 10:10) / PM 12:00-2:30 (Wed. dismiss at 2:10)
Drop off begins at 7:50 for am and 11:50 for pm

8:15 AM-2:40 PM (Wed. dismiss at 2:15)

GBP Registration Information
Preschool is the beginning step to your child’s educational journey and Shelbyville Central Schools is excited to assist you in that journey. The following information will help you with the process to begin that first step.
1. Preschool will follow the Shelbyville Central Schools’ calendar which includes early release times on Wednesdays, snow days and delays.
2. In accordance with Shelbyville Central Schools attendance policies please notify the Golden Bear Preschool office when your child is sick or absent. Doctor’s notes will be necessary when appropriate.
3. At times parents and school staff may need to work together if a child is having difficulty with the classroom routine. If needed to better serve your child, other preschool options may be considered.
4. Preschoolers for both the half and full-day programs should be fully toilet trained during the daytime by the first day of preschool.
5. Parents will receive information on their child’s overall classroom performance 2 to 3 times per year.
6. Parents must provide transportation to and from preschool.
7. Each preschooler must be at least 3 years old on or before August 1, 2025. Please inquire for more information about students who turn 3 after Aug. 1st. Students that are five years old on or before Aug. 1, 2025 are eligible for kindergarten.
8. Payments are due by the 1st for the following month with August payment due July 1, 2025. Tuition can be paid cash, check, money order, or online through the Playground app. There will be a charge of $20 if payments are not made by the due date. Failure to pay by the 1st of the month will result in the child’s removal from the preschool program. Payments will be required for 10 months. The first payment is due July 1, 2025. 9. Parents must complete the application process (birth certificate, immunizations, and proof of residency) and pay their $50 non-refundable registration fee to reserve their student’s spot. New students must also complete the Race and Ethnicity Form and Home Language Survey. These forms will be available as fillable forms on Playground after the application is submitted.
10. If you live outside of Shelbyville Central Schools you must also complete an Out of District form.
11. Students registered will receive preschool information in July with important information to help prepare for the start of the new year. All families will need to complete SCS online registration in July. Registration can be completed online or at Shelbyville Middle School during July's open registration dates.
12. Parent must complete the application process through the link. A credit card must be entered to apply. Your card will not be charged until you are accepted into the program.
